Bears, moose, eagles, fish, wildflowers, and 'first vote in the nation' site, Dixville Notch. Characterized by rugged and knowledgeable fly-fishing, hunting and hiking guides, much of this region is open for recreational use, including the largest snowmobile trail system in the Northeast (part of the state's 6,000 mile network of snowmobile trails.)
Highlights: Colebrook, starting place to reach the headwaters of the Connecticut River and the 15,000 acre The Balsams resort where the Dixville Notch “Ballot Room” is located.
