Wolfeboro is a town located in Eastern New Hampshire in the Lakes region of the state. It is situated in the Southern part of Carroll County and encompasses a total area 58.5 square miles, 10.6 of which is water. As of the 2010 United States Census, Wolfeboro was home to 6,269 people.

In 1759, the area now known as Wolfeboro was granted to four men from Portsmouth by Governor Benning Wentworth. Originally, it was named Wolfeborough, named after the English general James Wolfe. The area was settled in 1768 and officially incorporated as a town in 1770. Over the years, a number of people have either lived or vacationed in Wolfeboro, including Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, actress Drew Barrymore, comedian Jimmy Fallon, writer Kurt Vonnegut, Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney, MLB catcher Mike Ryan and French President Nicolas Sarkozy.

More than 18 percent of Wolfeboro’s total area is made up of water. It includes parts of Lake Wentworth and Lake Winnipesaukee, and its highest point lies at Moody Mountain, where elevation reaches 1,420 feet above sea level.
