North Hampton NH Real Estate

North Hampton is a town located in the Southeastern corner of New Hampshire in the Seacoast region of the state. The town is situated in the Easter part of Rockingham County and encompasses a total area of 14.4 square miles, .5 of which is water. As of the 2010 United State Census, North Hampton was home to 4,301 residents.

The area where North Hampton lies was first settled in 1639. It was originally part of Hampton and was known as North Hill and North Parish. Though residents of the area petitioned for separation started in 1719, it was not incorporated as its own town until 1742, after Massachusetts and New Hampshire split. Then, Governor Benning Wentworth established the area’s township and officially named it North Hampton.

Over the years, North Hampton has been called home by a number of notable people, including: Henry Dearborn, a U.S. Congressman and former Secretary of War; poet Ogden Nash; former Massachusetts Governor Alvan T. Fuller; and politician Bonnie Newman. The town is also home to several well-known sites, including Fuller Gardens, a historical botanic garden, and Centennial Hall, a 1800s-era schoolhouse.

The town of North Hampton is governed by an elected Board of Selectmen. The area boasts a full-time police department, a municipal fire department and municipal emergency medical services. The biggest employers in North Hampton include First Student bus services, the Town of North Hampton, Lamprey Brothers oil, Home Depot, Shaw’s Supermarket and Marshall’s department store.

Children in the area attend grades kindergarten through eight at North Hampton School. For grades nine through 12, they attend school at Winnacunnet High School, which also serves the nearby towns of Hampton, Hampton Falls and Seabrook. For recreation and entertainment, North Hampton residents can take advantage of the town?s municipal parks, golf courses, tennis courts, youth sports and organizations, campgrounds, fishing and hunting areas, cross country skiing, local beaches and more.
